Certified Nurse Midwife / Natural Birth Specialist
Charmaine credits her early childhood in Jamaica for shaping who she is today. Raised by a single mom who herself gave birth to Charmaine at 15, she was 10 when she realized she wanted to care for women during pregnancy and childbirth. Recognizing that traditional prenatal care did not provide the holistic care that women needed, she started looking for ways to correct the oversight.
Charmaine Pierce began her nursing career 13 years ago with an Associate degree in nursing from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. The dream of caring for women and helping them transition to their new role as mothers lead to her first job as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery. While working as an L&D nurse she continued her education obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Regis University, followed by her Masters in Science with a specialty in Nurse Midwifery at the University of Colorado. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice.
As a member of the NILE Women’s Health Care family, Charmaine will provide comprehensive care to gynecological, obstetrical, antepartum, intra-partum and postpartum clients in the Alpharetta/Roswell office. She also manages Nile client’s labor and delivery at North Fulton Hospital. Charmaine’s focus will remain on holistic care of women changing the status quo of traditional prenatal care to holistic prenatal care. With her DNP she will continue to work on increasing maternal and infant health, reduce the number of preterm deliveries and postpartum depression.
Charmaine believes that family is at the core of what makes us strong, so when she is not working she is spending time with her husband, two boys and extended family. She enjoys reading a good romance novel and watching the Hallmark Channel.
